John Hewitt founded IACS in 1999, after working in the pipeline construction industry in management positions for over twenty years.
For John, at the time, this was a big risk but he never regretted it for a second.
John guided the business as it expanded not just in the UK but globally, with many contracts established and being managed on various continents including Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.
As IACS flourished, becoming an international player in a highly competitive market so did John’s passion for supporting those starting out and developing their skills within the industry.
It was John’s unwavering commitment to people and maintaining high standards that saw IACS establish a pipeline training company in 2005 as part of a joint venture.
Today, John’s passion for people sits at the heart of IACS. In 2023 the company established a training subsidiary and a pioneering apprenticeship – a first for those looking to establish a career in pipelines.
In 2023 Ross, John’s son alongside his daughter Laura, took over the day-to-day running of IACS. John continued to play an active role in the business until his sudden death in 2024.
John set strong foundations when IACS was formed over 25 years ago. We are proud that these foundations, alongside John's strong family values and commitment to people and the industry are the guiding principles of the business as it operates as a leading inspection engineering, and testing consultancy, specialising in pipeline construction.
